This has been a busy off-season with several changes in the Southern California Lacrosse world as well as nationally. This Fall the CIF-SS boys and girls lacrosse advisory boards met and discussed the upcoming season and beyond. With some of those changes our 2019 Postseason Tournament builds off of the successful aspects of the 14 year history of the event, and expands the event to provide a more competitive match up for all teams involved. We anticipate that the CIF-Southern Section will adopt lacrosse as a full playoff sport in 2020, and this season's tournament reflects a format more inline with what the future holds.
If you are no longer coaching at your previous school but still receiving this, please reply back and let us know, and please forward to the proper school contact or new coach if possible.
For the LA Area (not including Ventura) the All American Chair position is up for section, interested coaches should submit their nomination to me no later than 1/15/19. Chairperson's must be US Lacrosse members (please include your USL member number with your nomination). https://goo.gl/forms/ppal6VuMhW5k6Ui72
With the shutdown of the website laxpower.com we are working with MAXLAX who will provide a similar analytic tool for our section. All teams will need to have a rep that will send in their teams schedule on a provided excel doc and then login in and input scores for each game. In addition we're requesting all games and scores be entered into MaxPreps as the CIF-SS office will use info from Max Preps. Only Teams that follow procedure in entering their schedule and game results will be considered for post season tournament selection.
The most significant change will be the expansion of the post season tournament into two divisions, now also featuring a full division 2 level of 24 teams, 12 LA and 12 OC, that will now have it's own championship game.
The Division 1 tournament format will also be moved to a 24 team bracket of 12 LA and 12 OC teams seeded with the top 4 seeds in both LA and OC getting a 1st round bye, and cross area play starting at the quarterfinal.
Hence the top 24 teams from OC and top 24 teams in LA will all be invited to the post season tournament. Each with their top 12 teams in Division 1 and next 12 teams placed in Division 2.
Below is the outline of the post season tournament dates and hosted games. School's interested in hosting the Quarter, Semi, or Final games, can submit their proposal by Jan 15th, 2019 for consideration, Please make sure to include
-Site information- Stadium size/capacity, pictures of location, press box, access to lockers, warm up field, etc
